Yesterday, acting on intelligence, law-enforcement officers raided the offices of websyncbd.com, a web development and hosting firm based in Savar Dohs, Nabinagar, Dhaka, and arrested its owner, Md. Juwel, in connection with the continued hosting of thefreespeech.net, a website recently at the centre of public controversy.
Authorities said thefreespeech.net, along with Md. Juwel’s business website, was taken offline as part of the operation. Mr Juwel has since been released on bail and barred from web-related activities pending the outcome of the investigation.
Officials further reiterated that Afzal Hossan (owner of thefreespeech.net), who they previously confirmed as wanted in connection with serious arrestable offences and currently resides overseas, remains under formal investigation.
