Suman Kumar Nitai, Staff Correspondent: A case has been filed in a mobile court in Nandigram, Bogra, and one person has been fined Tk 50,000 for selling soil in the name of pond renovation. According to information, a gang was destroying highways and rural roads by selling soil in drum trucks at various places in the name of pond renovation using excavators in Ridhail Dakshinpara Mouza of Buroil UP No. 1 of Nandigram Upazila and Bhatgram Masindagari of Bhatgram UP No. 5.
Based on such news, Nandigram Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kurshia Akhter conducted a mobile court at 3:30 pm on January 19 and filed a regular case against three people: Mohammad Abu Jafar (55), son of the deceased Joyen Uddin of Ridhail village, Atiqul Islam (35), son of Mozam Hossain, and Mohammad Obaidul Islam (45), son of Ekabbar Hossain.
And for the same crime, Nurunnabi Rahman (34), son of Md. Bablu of Bhatgram, Bhatgram UP, has been fined Tk 50,000 under Section 15(1) of the Sand and Soil Management Act 2010 for violating Section 5(1).
Besides, on December 31, Burail Union (Land) Deputy Assistant Officer Md. Moniruzzaman Akand filed a case against the landowner Abdul Mannan (55), son of the late Mujibur Rahman of Gandharvapur area, his associate Rezaul Karim Reza (45), son of the late Shukur Ali of the same area, and excavator (excavator) owner Nahid Hossain (35) for digging a pond and selling soil on arable land in Peng Hazarki of Burail UP.
And on January 13, Thalta Majhagram Union Land Deputy Assistant Officer Jamser Ali filed a case against Md. Kashem Ali (38) for the crime of digging a hole in 67 acres of land with an excavator (Veku) machine in Guliya Gopalpur Mouza of Thalta Majhagram UP, and selling the soil in various places.
When asked, Nandigram Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kurshia Akhter said that this campaign will continue against those who sell land in the name of pond renovation and destroy roads and streets.
