The northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has reportedly reported 45 deaths due to heavy rains and storms from Wednesday, with heavy rains and gusty winds in the last 24 hours, according to the Times of India.
According to the report, the Uttar Pradesh state government has ordered that compensation should be delivered to the families of the victims within 24 hours, and an emergency survey has also been directed to determine crop damage, so that it can be assisted by the affected farmers as soon as possible.
The Uttar Pradesh Meteorological Department said the trend of thunderstorms in the state may continue till Monday, especially in the Middle Uttar Pradesh and Terai regions, with light to moderate rain and gusty winds.
Meanwhile, a large number of birds have died in Singhar village of Jhansi district of the state due to the storm, locals said that the large peepal tree adjacent to a temple in the village was seen as the habitat of many birds, and many birds were injured in the sudden storm.
Jhansi district forest officer JB Shende said that 70 birds have been confirmed deaths so far. And about 30 birds are under treatment.
