Out of 5 clinics in Nandigram, 3 have been declared closed due to lack of valid documents. 5 clinics have been operating in Nandigram Upazila Sadar since the past few days. The clinics are: Fatema Clinic and Diagnostic Center, Rokeya General Hospital, Health Care Clinic and Diagnostic Center, Islam Life Care Hospital and Diagnostic Center, New Model Clinic and Diagnostic Center, three have been declared illegal due to lack of valid documents: Health Care Clinic and Diagnostic Center, Rokeya General Hospital, Islam Life Care Hospital and Diagnostic Center, Islam Life Care Hospital authorities have closed the hospital themselves through an application. Despite not having valid documents, the closed clinics have been illegally providing treatment for a long time and have embezzled lakhs of taka. They sent workers to villages and brought patients and gave them ill-treatment in the name of treatment. For these reasons, there have been reports of patient deaths in the closed clinics. Many have alleged that these clinics secretly administer government medicine. Their commission agents are spread across the villages, and the job of these agents is to lure simple people to these clinics. Then the clinic owners perform operations and treatments with low-quality medicine and hand over huge bills to the relatives of the patients. Many have also alleged that in some of these clinics, instead of doctors, the owner himself performs complex work like operations. In addition, unlicensed clinics are being run with the help of an influential group. When we went to the Health Care Clinic and Diagnostic Center, we saw that although the main gate was locked, there was no activity inside the clinic, and there was a large flow of patients. When we spoke to Masud, the owner of the Health Care Clinic and Diagnostic Center, he said that painting work was going on inside the clinic, so the clinic was open. He also said that he and Upazila Health Family Planning Officer Dr. Tofazzal Hossain were doing painting work inside the clinic. In this regard, Upazila Health Family Planning Officer Dr. Tofazzal Hossain said, "Three clinics have been declared closed due to lack of valid documents. However, if evidence of providing medical services is found in the closed clinics, legal action will be taken through a mobile court."
