The new ‘custom feed’ can solve this problem. Those for whom the feature has been launched will see a new option called ‘Your Custom Feed’ next to the ‘Home’ button on the homepage. If you click there, a box will appear in front of the user. Where they can give specific instructions or ‘prompt’ according to their interest. For example, if you want to watch the video of cooking, travel, technology or book, you will be interested in the name of the video.
Experts say that if this feature is popular, the experience of using YouTube may change. So far, users have to use different options like ‘not interested’ or ‘channel will not recommend’ in unwanted videos. The same task will be made easier and more simple and possible to do it directly.
Currently, ‘ur custom feed’ has been launched for a limited number of users, which is expected to be open to all users if the test results are positive.
Along with this YouTube initiative, other platforms are also turning to personal feed. The Mater Threads has recently run the trial feature of algorithm control, and X (previous Twitter) is a system where users tag their AI chatbot ‘Grock’ to change the feed.
YouTube has not yet officially announced anything, but experts believe that this feature will play a role in benefiting users and cutting down the criticism of the algorithm.
