India-Pakistan extend airspace closure

India and Pakistan have extended the closure of each other's airspace for another month, the two neighboring countries said on Friday.

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has extended the ban on Indian aircraft using Pakistani airspace until 4:49 am on June 24, the Dawn reported.

The notification said that Indian registered, operated or owned aircraft, including military flights, and aircraft leased by the country's airlines will not be allowed to use Pakistani airspace. No exemption will be given in this regard. The PAA said that the ban will apply from the ground to unlimited altitude. Under the directive, no Indian airline or controller's flight will be allowed to enter or cross Pakistani airspace. However, other international airlines will not be subject to this ban.

India's civil aviation ministry has issued a similar notice, saying that aircraft registered, operated, owned or leased in Pakistan, including military flights, will not be allowed to enter Indian airspace until June 23. India and Pakistan imposed restrictions on each other's airspace for the first time last month following the attack in Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir.
