The environment was said to be friendly and constructive in the parliamentary elections and referendum in Bangladesh.
It said that on February 11-12, observers, led by the commissioner of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation Pavel Andreev, visited Dhaka to participate in the parliamentary elections and the international monitoring program of the referendum. The observers of the Russian Central Election Commission and the embassies in Bangladesh observed more than 40 polling stations in Dhaka and Narayanganj, counting votes from the start of the polling. They were present at every stage until the beginning.
The observers of the same were noted the strong preparation and interest of the voters in the election officials for the combined voting process. The commission members followed a well-trained procedure as per the law and the direction of the Election Commission. The presiding officers were fully prepared and well-organized. A friendly, constructive environment prevailed. The polling officials were cooperating with the party polling agents at all places to ensure transparency and supervision of the polling process.
Security measures were intensified, with the organizers succeeding in taking the votes in a calm and safe manner, which has not destroyed the environment or affected the polling.
Voters were particularly involved in the process. According to many, it seemed like a long-awaited event after the overthrow of the government in July 2024. Some had brought children with them. The political rivalry was only through the ballot marks, the overall atmosphere was peaceful, even festive, and the election officials said that the turnout was higher than in the last election.
In a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin, Pavel discussed the election standards and technology issues. He delivered an invitation to Bangladesh to participate in the international monitoring program of the upcoming elections in the state of Russia Duma.
A memorandum of cooperation between the Russian Election Commission has been effective since 2019. Earlier, a delegation of the Bangladesh Election Commission participated in the presidential election of Russia in March 2024.
