The police have arrested Nishi Khatun on Wednesday (December 3) on the charge of killing eight puppies in a pond in the Ishwardi Upazila Parishad premises in Pabna.
Earlier on Tuesday (December 2) night, Ishwardi Upazila Livestock Officer Akalima Khatun filed the case 7 of Animal Welfare Act 2019.
Akalima Khatun said that the case has been filed on behalf of the Director General of Livestock Directorate. In this, Nishi Begum, the wife of the small Farmer Foundation official Hasanur Rahman Naton, has been made the only accused by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Farida Akhtar, the advisor of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, has directed the incident to take strict action against the people.
On Tuesday afternoon, an investigation team from Dhaka Animal Activist Committee reached Ishwardi and started an investigation. On the other hand, the family of the accused, Hasanur Rahman Naton, was directed to the family of the government customer to leave the house and said that they had already left the cottage.
Earlier, after last Sunday (November 30) evening, Nishi Khatun, the wife of an officer living in a gazetted building, was accused of killing the puppies in a pond with sacks.
Jahangir Alam, the manager of the UNO office, told the media that on Monday morning, the official couple's son told him that his mother had thrown the chicks into the pond with his own hands, and eight dead chicks were recovered from the pond.
