A truck loaded with cement in Burichong upazila of Comilla collapsed on the road that had been blocked by the road that was blocked by the road, which caused the road users to suffer from the common people of the road.
Monday (December 15) at approximately 8:00 p.m. The accident took place at the entrance of Haripur area of Sadar Union on Burichong to Kalikapur road.
According to local sources, while the truck was going towards Kalikapur with cement, the patatan suddenly broke while climbing the bridge. A part of the truck got inside the bridge and got stuck there.
As a result of the accident, large vehicles on Burichong to Kalikapur road The traffic was completely stopped, and small vehicles were forced to use alternative roads, which caused traffic jams in the area and the commuters were in dire straits.
On receiving the news, Burichong Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Tanveer Hossain, Upazila Engineer Alif Ahmed Akshar and Burichong Press Club President Kazi Khorshed Alam visited the site and the concerned officials visited the damage to the bridge and gave necessary instructions to deal with the situation.
Tanveer Hossain said, “We have visited the spot as soon as we received the news of the accident. In addition, measures are being taken to quickly rescue the damaged bridge. In addition, initiatives will be taken to repair the damaged bridge temporarily and normalize traffic quickly.”
He said that the movement of heavy vehicles will be controlled according to the capacity of the bridge to avoid such accidents in the future and if necessary, the higher authorities will be informed for permanent renovation.’
Local residents said that the bridge has been in a dangerous condition for a long time and they fear that a major accident may occur at any time due to the movement of heavy vehicles.
They demanded the quick renovation of the bridge and effective measures to control heavy vehicles.
