Bangladesh beats Nepal to reach final

Bangladesh's youth team is just one win away from the title. The red-green team defeated Nepal 2-1 in the semi-finals of the SAFF Under-19 Championship on Friday (May 16) to book a place in the final.

Neither team scored a goal in the first half at the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Arunachal Pradesh. Finally, in the 73rd minute of the match, Faisal's corner kick was headed into the net by Ashiqur, who headed it in from the far post.

Seven minutes later, Faisal found the net himself. Manik fooled the two footballers and passed the ball to Faisal in the empty space inside the box. The Bangladesh captain doubled the lead with a right-footed shot.

The match heated up when Nepal conceded a goal towards the end. However, Golam Rabbani Chhota's team snatched the victory by holding on to a one-goal lead.

Hosts India and Maldives will face off in the second semi-final of the tournament at 8 pm. Bangladesh will face the winner of this match in the final on May 18.
