Could not buy milk for the baby, there was no money to market. We have spent the day half-starved. We have seen your helplessness. I cannot repay your debt. I will not be able to repay this debt of yours. Our hundreds of leaders and activists have been victims of murder and disappearance. 600,000 have been accused in one lakh cases. This is not our strength.’

Awami League candidate also served as the mayor of this city for more than three years.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives issued a notification to remove the mayors of the City Corporation on August 19.
Shahadat of BNP filed a case against nine people in the court of Chittagong First Joint District Judge and Election Tribunal Judge Khairul Amin, claiming that the election was rigged on January 27, 2021.
In that case, on Tuesday (October 1) at noon, the Electoral Tribunal and Joint District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Khairul Amin's court declared Shahadat the mayor and ordered the gazette to be published within the next 10 days.
In this, the winning candidate of that election was removed on the orders of the ministry, but this leader of BNP is sitting in the post of mayor in the case of rigging.
