Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh has set the bail hearing date for popular film actress Pori Mani, who is being held in jail in a drug case filed by Banani Police Station, on Tuesday, August 31. Tapas Kumar Pal, Public Prosecutor of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court, confirmed this information.
On August 22, Parimoni's lawyer Mujibur Rahman filed a bail application on behalf of Parimoni in the same court. The court had fixed September 13 as the date for hearing the bail application. After that, Parimoni's lawyer Mujibur Rahman filed an application in the High Court challenging the validity of the bail hearing. After 21 days, the High Court bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal issued a rule asking why the order of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court should not be declared null and void, setting the bail hearing date at August 26.
In the rule, the court also asked why the hearing of the bail application should not be ordered within two days, and the defendants have been asked to respond to the rule by September 1. In the meantime, the court set a date for the bail hearing.
