There have been arrests following recent protests against two Bangladeshi gay bloggers for inulting Islam, which was reported by several print and e-news oulets such as https://sonalibarta.com/2021/04/16/?page=3,and https://www.muktakhabar.net/index.php/2021/04/16/78292.html?6bfec1&6bfec1.
Dhaka Police have confirmed they made two arrests and bailed both Mohan Patwari, the Dhaka based developer of www.freedomfriendss.com and another person, Md Siddiqur Rahman, for assisting the bloggers. During their investigation police were able to confirm from a number of documents, such as passport copies, seized from the persons arrested and bailed, the identity of the bloggers as Etu Mohammad Soumik, and Mohammad Asadullah. Police said the gay bloggers are overseas but both persons are Bangladeshi nationals and will arrested when they return to Bangladesh for serious criminal offences.
