The miscreants have shattered the dreams of a young man in Nandigram. According to the information received, Ratan Chandra, son of Suman Chandra of Muradpur Dakshin Para, Burail Union No. 1, Nandigram Upazila, planted 250 potal trees on his 12th century land 6 months ago. By then, he had spent 25 thousand taka on his 12th century land. The trees had started bearing fruit. He had already sold potals worth 3 to 4 thousand taka in the first and second consignments. Last Friday, he went to the land to collect potals and found that someone had cut down all his potal trees in the dead of night.
Farmer Ratan Chandra burst into tears after seeing the trees. Farmer Ratan Chandra cried with tears in his eyes, saying, "I left my house in the morning to pick the potals and sell them in the market, and I saw someone cutting down all my potal trees. I have no enmity with anyone. I have never harmed anyone. So who cut down my potal trees like this?" He also said, "I sold potals for 4,000 taka in two batches. After a week, I used to get 1.5 to 2 maunds of potals. Now, each potal is being sold for 23 to 24 hundred taka. Until the trees died, I could have picked up at least 1 lakh taka and sold them in the market. That dream remained a dream."
