John Kirby said, 'We are definitely ready (to attack).' According to Al Jazeera news, Kirby said that they are keeping a close eye on the threat of IS (Islamic State) in Afghanistan.

The United States is leaving Afghanistan on August 31. Currently, the capital Kabul is in the hands of the Taliban, but the airport is under the control of the United States. There they are continuing the final steps of evacuating US troops and Afghans who want to leave the country.

In this situation, last Thursday evening, the deadliest bomb explosion in the memory happened in Kabul. 175 people have been killed so far. Most of the dead were Afghan civilians, but several US soldiers were also killed.

More than 150 people were injured in that attack. ISKP (Islamic State of Khorasan Province) claimed responsibility for the attack. It is a branch of IS, a terrorist organization based in Syria and Iraq in the Middle East.

Due to the explosion, the United States launched a drone attack on the ISKP base in Afghanistan on Friday. According to CNN, an ISKP planner was killed in the attack.

In a statement, Central Command spokesman Capt. Bill Urban said the U.S. military conducted a counterterrorism operation against a planner in ISKP, the Afghan branch of the Islamic State (IS). The planner was killed in the attack in Afghanistan's Nangarh province.

Immediately after the attack, US President Joe Biden reacted with great anger. He said, 'We will not forgive, we will not forget this attack.' He also warned that the attackers will be found and retribution for their (mis)deeds will be made.
