Development is not possible without revenue growth, says Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner at coordination meeting

Rajshahi Bureau: Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil has said that there is no alternative to increasing revenue if we want to achieve overall development and transform into a middle-income country.
The Annual Coordination Meeting of the Effective and Accountable Local Government (EALG) Project-2021 was held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Room on 29 December 2021 (Wednesday) at 10.30 am organized by the Deputy Commissioner's Office. Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, District Facilitator of Local Government Rajshahi, delivered a welcome and greeting speech at the coordination meeting. In his speech, he discussed various aspects of the coordination meeting and the project. The event was attended by the Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi District Administration, Abdul Jalil, and the Deputy Director of the Local Government Department, Rajshahi District, Shahna Akhtar Jahan, presided over the event. In his speech as the chief guest, Abdul Jalil said that every department in the country is now very busy. Because the quality of services has improved everywhere, the country has been digitalized. Due to the relentless efforts of the government, Bangladesh has been transformed into a middle-income country in the world. Currently, the per capita income of the people of Bangladesh is two thousand five hundred US dollars. Everything has been possible because of the current Prime Minister, Jananetri Sheikh Hasina. In addition, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil advised the union chairmen to give utmost importance to revenue collection. Because development is not possible without revenue. Present at the time were Executive Magistrate Kaushik Ahmed, District Facilitator Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, District Facilitator Md. Akter Hossain, Mohanpur Upazila Chairman Ed. Abdus Salam, Vice Chairman Mehboob Hasan Russell, all unions and chairmen and secretaries of Bagmara and Mohanpur upazilas, office assistants and computers, senior officers of 8 government offices in each upazila, and officials. It is worth noting that the project is being technically supported by the "United Nations Development Programme" (UNDP).
