What Parimani's lawyer said at the bail hearing in the High Court

Actress Pori Moni's lawyer, Advocate Mujibur Rahman, filed a revision petition in the High Court seeking bail against the lower court's order in the drug case against her.

When the High Court hearing on the matter began, Parimoni's lawyer presented the case details and bail. However, the court wanted to know about the seized evidence, the date, time and complaint of the incident.

In response, the lawyer presented these issues to the court and held a hearing. He presented information from the complaint (FIR) in the case.

The lawyer said in the hearing that earlier on August 4, after a four-hour raid, RAB arrested Parimoni and his accomplice Dipu from their house in Banani. During this, various narcotics were seized from Parimoni's house. Later, on August 5, RAB-1 filed a case against Parimoni and his accomplice under the Narcotics Control Act at Banani Police Station.

The Supreme Court then asked about the application filed in the High Court. In response, the lawyer said, "We want bail and declare the lower court's order invalid. Because they have prolonged my bail application."

Then lawyer ZI Khan Panna tried to argue for the petition. He said that the case was filed 26 hours after Parimani's arrest. The orders of the Appellate Division and the High Court regarding bail were not followed.

Then Assistant Attorney General Mizanur Rahman for the state said, "The order that has been challenged is not reasonable. The lower court has the judicial power to decide the bail order. Besides, since the date has been fixed, it would not be reasonable to hear this application in the High Court."

The court then said, "We will not give a full order on this matter right now. We will give a short order." Later, the court issued a rule asking why an order should not be issued for an urgent hearing on the bail application in the drug case against Parimoni.

At the same time, the court also wanted to know in the rule why the order fixing the date for the bail hearing on September 13 after a long time will not be canceled. The High Court set the next hearing date on that day, stating that a response to the rule must be filed by September 1.

The virtual bench of High Court Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajal issued the order on Thursday (August 26).

Advocate Mujibur Rahman appeared for Parimani in the court. He was accompanied by ZI Khan Panna. Deputy Attorney General Abu Ehia Dulal and Assistant Attorney General Mizanur Rahman appeared for the state.

Parimani's bail application was filed in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Kayesh on August 22. The court set September 13 as the date for hearing the application.

Earlier, on August 4, after a four-hour operation, RAB arrested Parimoni and her accomplice Dipu from their house in Banani in the capital. During this time, a large amount of narcotics was seized from Parimoni's house. Later, on August 5, RAB filed a case against Parimoni and her accomplice under the Narcotics Control Act.

According to the case, Parimani had been using drugs since 2016. She even used LSD and ice. For this, she made a 'minibar' at home. She used to regularly hold 'alcohol parties' at home. Film producer Nazrul Islam Raj and many others used to supply various types of drugs including alcohol to her house and participate in the parties.

Parimani entered the film industry in 2014. So far, she has acted in 30 films and five to seven TVCs. Producer Raj brought her to the film industry from Pirojpur to Dhaka.
