Nandigram (Bogra) Representative: Toll collectors, traders and local people of Dasgram Bazar have formed a human chain to demand the development of the haat and stop tolls and tolls after complaining to the administration to stop collection of tolls and tolls outside the specified limits.
This human chain was held on Thursday, April 4 at 5 pm at the Dasgram market ground of Buril UP in the upazila. It is known that Dasgram is the traditional market of Nandigram upazila. King Jahangir Alam has leased this hut for 1 year. A man named Abdur Razzak collects the rent and toll of the market and market.
Speakers present in the human chain said that Dasgram Hat and Bazaar are located in Ward No. 6 of Buril Union No. 1. According to the rules, no other tenant can collect tolls and rents on the boundary of this market. But the collectors of Izardar of Bhatgram No. 5 of the upazila have come to Ward No. 5, 6, 7 of Buril UP and are collecting tolls and taxes illegally.
Ward No. 6 tax collector Abdur Razzak said, Md. Obaidul, Arif Hossain, Akkas Ali, Abdur Rashid of Union No. 5 crossed their border and came to our border illegally and collected tax and toll illegally. If they are banned, they show various threats and intimidation. Abdur Razzak also said that although he informed No. 1 Burail UP Chairman Ziaur Rahman about this, he could not give any fair solution in this matter. Speakers said that when Bogra-4 Constituency Member of Parliament AK, M Rezaul Karim Tansen was informed, he recommended the Upazila Nirbahi Officer to take action but there was no solution.
Ferdousi Ara, a reserved female member of Ward 4, 5, 6 of No. 1 Buril Union, claimed in writing that, in Buril Union, Kahuli, Dohar, Ridhail, Singhjani, Kamulla, Khengshahar, Ailpunia, Teghri and other villages of No. 5 Bhatgram Union are conducting toll collection activities. Tax collectors. Even from Nandigram Municipality, Sidhail, Shukangari, village tolls are being illegally levied within my 1st Burail Union.
Ferdowsi Ara said that if the area of the unions is not divided with the stop of toll collection outside the specified area, there is a possibility of any kind of accident in the future with the toll collection. Apart from this, the local businessmen in the human chain said that there was no development in Dasgram market in the past days. They demanded government initiative for repair of tin sheds in Dasgram hut and market, construction of public toilets, installation of tube wells. If their demands are not implemented, the traders give stern warning that they will not pay rent.
Akkas Ali, who is in charge of No. 5 Bhatgram Hut, said that we do not levy tolls and fees in our borders. False accusations have been made against us.
Chairman of No. 1 Burail UP Ziaur Rahman Zia said, I want both parties to collect market rent and toll according to government policy. There will be no violence.
When asked, Nandigram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Humayun Kabir said, "We are aware of this matter from the past. In the past, there have been cases of tax and toll collection by going to other borders, and we have taken immediate administrative measures." If the same incident happens again, I will take legal action if I receive a complaint.
