Staff Correspondent:Alhaj Salim Uddin Tarafdar Selim, MP for Naogaon-3 (Mahadevpur-Badalgachhi) constituency and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Road Transport and Bridges, sought votes in a boat at a rally of beneficiaries under the social security program in Mahadevpur, Naogaon. The rally was organized on Thursday (August 24) afternoon at the initiative of the Hatur Union Parishad of the upazila on the occasion of MP Selim's view-exchange meeting with beneficiaries of the union's elderly, widows, husbands abandoned, pregnant, disabled, 40-day job creation program, VGD, VGF, incentives for small ethnic groups and education allowance. Hatur UP Chairman Enamul Haque presided over it.
MP Selim said at the rally, "It is the leader of the people Sheikh Hasina who has introduced these various allowances to help the needy of this country. This is rare in the world. In addition, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created history in the world by allocating houses for the homeless. She has started universal pension for all." He highlighted various developments in the area including roads, electricity, schools and colleges and said, "The Awami League government has given everything without asking. The work is cash votes. What else needs to be done to get votes? If the beneficiaries and their family members vote for the boat out of gratitude, then this government will come to power again." The MP said, "The leader of the people Sheikh Hasina will once again nominate him for the boat. However, he will vote for whoever gets the boat." He sought prayers for Sheikh Hasina and himself.
While speaking at the meeting, Upazila Social Service Officer Rokonuzzaman Mondal said, "A total of 2,733 elderly, disabled and widows in this union receive allowance. MP Salim Uddin Tarafdar has arranged 100 percent allowance for you by protesting to the Prime Minister. Therefore, I humbly request you to vote for the poor MP Salim Uddin Tarafdar with the boat symbol in the next national parliament election." He asked those who wanted to vote to raise their hands.
Khajur UP Chairman Belal Uddin, among others, delivered a speech moderated by Upazila Awami League Deputy Publicity Secretary Master Fanindranath Mahanta.
