Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) will be promoted as a strong think tank in terms of international trade, trade law, economic research and development of skills.
He said this in the speech of the 63rd board of directors of the institution held at the BFTI conference room in the capital on Tuesday.
The Minister of Commerce said that there is no alternative to deep research on the global trade system, international market and economic change.
He said that BFTI will play an important role in creating skilled manpower in international trade agreements, regulations and legal interpretation.
Khandaker Abdul Muktadir said that BFTI will conduct research on the world's important economy market conditions, commercial trends, potential risks and economic changes, including China, India, USA, Canada and the European Union, which will help in determining the government's policy and private sector business decisions.
Highlighting the plan to launch international quality training programs, the minister said that special training in trade, trade law and economic ethics will be launched for the cooperation of the world's famous universities, as well as a skilled net of trade law experts in the public and private sector.
As the new chief executive officer of Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute Dr. Mustafa Abid Khan's appointment is approved.
