A CNG-powered autorickshaw was hijacked in the capital's Pallabi area, killing its driver. The deceased driver has been identified as Bachchu (48). The incident took place at the DOHS intersection in Pallabi Section 12 on Friday morning. Later, around 9:30 am, the police recovered the body and sent it to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for an autopsy.
The deceased's colleague Belal Hossain said that he and Bachchu used to share Dhaka Metro-D 11-10 67 autorickshaw during the day and night. Bachchu's mobile phone was found switched off since midnight on Thursday. His body was found on the road at DOHS intersection No. 12 in Pallabi in the morning. After the autopsy at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Morgue, he was buried at Rayerbazar graveyard on Friday evening.
Belal said the kidnappers killed Bachchu and took the CNG autorickshaw. A case will be filed at Pallabi Police Station on Saturday in this regard.
The deceased's village home was in Lalmohan, Bhola. He lived in Shahjalal Housing area of Bachila with his wife, two sons and a daughter.
