Dramatic robbery of fish truck in Baraigram of Natore - 4 arrests

Rajshahi Bureau: The Baraigram Thana police arrested 4 people including a truck owner named Shafiqul Islam in connection with the robbery of a truck with fish in Natore's Baraigram. Later when truck owner Shafiqul applied for remand for questioning, court granted 3 days remand. Natore Senior Judicial Magistrate Mehdi Hasan granted this remand on Sunday (December 19) afternoon.
According to the court and incident sources, on December 13th, Abdur Rahman, the manager of fish trader Abdur Rakib from Shibganj in Chapai-Nawabganj, hired the defendant Shafikul's truck in Mutophone for the purpose of sending various types of carp including Rui, Katal, Mrigel to Dhaka worth about Tk 370,000. Later, when the truck reached Rathuria in Baraigram, Natore, two people on a motorcycle stopped the fish carrier and tied up the driver and manager Abdur Rahman. Then the truck left them on the side of the road.
In this incident, the fish trader came to know about the incident the next day (14 December) and filed a case at the Baraigram police station in Nato.
Then, with the help of information technology, the police arrested the truck owner Shafiqul Islam along with his accomplices Rohan, Masud Mondal and Noor Islam from various places in Durgapur of Rajshahi on December 15 and sent them to jail through the court.
According to police sources, accused Shafiqul Islam's house is in Amgachi village of Durgapur upazila of Rajshahi. Shafiqul's father's name is Md Moslem Uddin (cycle maker). The robbery was planned by the truck owner Shafiqul. However, the local residents say that his brother sometimes commits various misdemeanors under the identity of a journalist and leader.
