What is the secret behind the Taliban's seizure of power?

Pir Habibur Rahman

The National Day of Mourning has passed. The month of mourning is not over. And the nation will have to bear the loss of that leadership void forever. The most heartbreaking and tragic murder in the history of human civilization took place on the dark night of August 15, 1975. The father of our nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family members were killed in the house of Dhanmondi by the misguided army officers of this country in a national and international conspiracy. The house that addresses the history of our independence. If you say number 32, you don't have to say anything else. On top of that blood came Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmad in the role of the traitor Mir Zafar. Bangabandhu did not recognize whom everyone knew from the liberation war. He kept a poisonous snake beside him. Bangabandhu did not take it into account even though many local and foreign people warned him.

Conspiracy was spreading all around and there was deep darkness. There was also talk that something was happening all around. But no one could convince Bangabandhu by warning. The children of the country did not believe that the children of the country would kill whom the Pakistanis could not kill. However, after the murder, the illegal government was formed in violation of the constitution and the murderers were cheering. The people are stunned and speechless by the military rule and curfew. Military leadership, civil administration showed loyalty to the killers. Some are like cowards, some are the heroes behind the conspiracy. The political leadership of the disorganized party in the formation of Bakshal could not call for resistance. Just as the military leadership failed to prevent the assassination of Bangabandhu, it also failed to prevent the rule of a group of murderers to continue the constitutional order. While the ministers of the Bangabandhu government were joining the cabinet of the murderer Moshtaq, some were conducting the event and some were enjoying, attending and validating, the bullet-riddled and bloody body of the father of the nation lay in disrepute in the Dhanmondi house.

The one who spent 14 years of his life in prison, did not compromise even in the face of hanging twice, brought the Bengali nation into one estuary and gave birth to Bangladesh in a difficult struggle, he was killed by the murderers of his own country. They were also afraid of his dead body that day. When he wanted to be buried in Tungipara by helicopter under strict security, he was buried wearing a bath shroud and funeral due to Imam's objection. People were not allowed to participate in the funeral at gunpoint. After the assassination of Bangabandhu, the military leadership showed loyalty to the murderers without taking action against them is not only shameful but also a mystery. On the one hand the cue-counter-queue, on the other hand the killing of four national leaders in jail.

Awami League leaders were tortured across the country and thrown into prisons, some of them emigrated. 18 thousand young leaders went to resistance war under the leadership of Bangbir Quader Siddiqui Biruttam. Bangabandhu quickly turned around a war-torn country, but he was never given peace. Conspiracy of the country and abroad broke the party. What fierce stubbornness. Arson and murder. Sabotage in the name of Mujib Utkhat. The secret terror rampage of Siraj Sikder's proletariat party in the name of eliminating the class enemy. The activities of the ultra-left and a group of leaders and activists of the Awami League created the context of multi-faceted propaganda and murders. Military ruler Zia removed Sayem to power. How many hanged during that dark military regime! The leaders and activists of Bangabandhu's ideology were repressed and imprisoned. However, the leaders and activists turned around in Bangabandhu's ideals.

In 12 years of power, today the whole Bangladesh is like Awami League. Mujib and Sheikh Hasina are being saluted all around. However, in that dark period after '75, Awami League did not find any ally on the street. The Muscovites went to the revolution to cut the Zia Canal. Radicals and Chinese ultra-revolutionaries are anti-Mujib, anti-Awami League activities. What a terrible time for the leaders and workers who follow the ideals of Bangabandhu. Martial law on one side, propaganda and resistance by radical political forces on the other side. Today's Awami League did not have to face those difficult times. Nowadays, it seems that no one did anti-Awami League politics at that time.

Zia formed a cocktail party BNP with a group of freedom fighters along with Chinese far-left and far-right Muslim League leaders. In those difficult days, Chhatra League and Awami League strengthened themselves well organized in the ideals of the great leader. Chhatra League's results in the country's student parliament elections were a beacon of hope. On that day, the murderers did not ban the name of Bangabandhu, the indemnity law was not given legality to stop the murder trial, the achievements of the liberation war ideals were deleted from the constitution. From that time, there was a strike on August 15, the National Mourning Day, to demand justice for Bangabandhu's murder. And the poster was 'Cry Bengali cry'. The slogans from my school throughout my student life were, 'Lakh Mujib will be born from the blood of Ek Mujib', 'Ek Mujib Lokantare Lak Mujib Ghar Ghar Ghar'. The writings of Annadashankar Roy and poet Nirmalendu Guna were our life force that day. On that day, no other party wanted justice, nor did they observe the day of mourning. The murderers used to celebrate Najat Day with pride. Finally, Mujib's daughter Sheikh Hasina became the president of the party and entered the fray. After bringing the party to power after the end of military rule, he prosecuted the August killings. The murderers were hanged. The nation was freed from the curse. Not only the script of the conspiracy has not been revealed even today, the Kushilavs behind the conspiracy have not been exposed.

The pain and emptiness of losing the father of the nation was not filled. Such a tall handsome man and a Bengali who loved the entire country and people and such a great political poet of world politics will never come again. Killing him not only killed the ideals of the state achieved in the war of liberation, but also killed the soul of the country. It is a great responsibility to cherish the ideal of Bangabandhu's selfless patriotism in thought and consciousness and apply it in action. He is the father of the nation, the leader of the nation. Bangabandhu is the ideal of Bangladesh. Another name of Bangladesh is Bangabandhu. In the month of mourning, one should not only commemorate and discuss black mourning stories, doa mahfils and biryani festivals by slaughtering cows, but also take a pledge to nurture and implement his ideals. May his soul rest in peace the day his dream Bangladesh becomes a non-communal democratic exploitation-free state. He has lived a life of self-respect and insistence on pursuing it. He has repeatedly urged Awami League leaders and workers to self-criticize, self-restraint and self-purify. Leaders and workers must realize today that the urge is not over. He clearly said, 'My farmers, my workers do not take bribes, do not commit corruption, educated people do corruption. My farmers and workers are not black marketers, but educated people.' In today's Bangladesh, those urges of Bangabandhu have not ended but have increased. Bribery and corruption in the society is unlimited. Economic looting and money laundering abroad is unprecedented. If you follow Bangabandhu's ideology, you have to stop this injustice, this corruption. Minister-MP leaders have to do human service in a selfless character. Government servants should mingle with the people. They are servants, servants, brothers of the people. They are fathers of the people, sons of the people, children of the people. They have to work with this attitude.

Bangabandhu said, 'I request all the government employees to serve those whose money supports our family. If you oppress the poor, you will have to answer to Allah. Life is very fleeting, remember that. Neither I nor any of you will take anything with us after death except a few yards of cloth. But why do you exploit people, torture people? I appeal to the artists, writers and culture lovers to make the laughter, tears, happiness and sorrow of the common people of the country, who are still suffering, who are still living with constant struggle, a livelihood of art, literature and culture.' No one has ever had a patriotic leader like him, a deep compassion for people like him. He clearly said, 'My greatest strength is that I love the people of the country. And the biggest weakness is loving people more.' If you love Bangabandhu, if you carry the legacy of Bangabandhu's blood debt, his ideals must be deeply embedded in your heart. Care must be taken with thought. And prove it by applying it in action. No one can follow the ideals of Bangabandhu who is addicted to greed and greed and to earn money by any means. His 'Unfinished Autobiography' and 'Jail Diary' are not to be kept on the table, but to be read by heart and to know and practice this great Bengali leader.

After the U.S. military ousted the Afghan Taliban and brutally suppressed them for two decades, the radical Taliban re-armed the Afghan army and captured one city after another, eventually leading to the fall of Kabul. Take over the President's House. Before that, in the face of this bloodless coup, the country's president Ashraf Ghani fled to another country and resigned. The Taliban will form a government and establish their rule. The son of that radical Taliban leader, Andh Mullah Omar, led the war. The resumption of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban is a matter of concern not only for the subcontinent but also for the world. Two decades of rule have proved that it cannot be suppressed by force of gun. Changing the political and cultural psyche of the people against the Taliban has failed miserably to form a strong secular or liberal political party. The urge to buy a burqa again. Common people are terrified. The world is watching the scene of fleeing the country by plane.

Next to Afghanistan, another failed state is Pakistan, which is scarred by fanaticism and militarism. Radical communalism is the character of the state. If the Taliban's relationship with this weak state deepens, what will be the effect on the SAARC countries is a matter of concern. Radical fanaticism never brings welfare to humanity. Afghanistan and Pakistan are two members of SAARC. China has made a deal with the Taliban. It remains to be seen where the relationship with the Taliban is left before the US pulls out. It is visible that the people of a country have been left in extreme danger. China, Russia, Pakistan, Iran recognize Taliban government. America made two conditions. And requested Bangladesh to give shelter to Afghan refugees. Our government refused. Uncle's house is like. There is no demand to take back 1.2 million Rohingya, on the contrary, they are requesting to give them citizenship. Even jokes have their limits. There is no secret or secret agreement behind the withdrawal of Afghan men and women in danger? President Ashraf Ghani took huge money in cars and helicopters even though the people were in danger. Women and children also gave their lives in the Afghan war.

On the other hand, the US had to spend 1 trillion US dollars to train and equip the Afghan forces. On October 7, 2001, US-led forces launched attacks on Taliban and al-Qaeda installations due to al-Qaeda attacks. And on November 13, the Taliban government fell. When the Taliban started suicide attacks in 2005, Western forces had to build a national army and police force in Afghanistan. It costs 9 billion dollars. And spent 14 billion dollars on infrastructure development. And the Afghan government has spent 3.5 billion dollars on management. 100,000 US troops were deployed. But two decades later, the Afghan government collapsed like a house of cards in the face of the Taliban's onslaught. Its trial and analysis will now continue internationally. What was the result? Although non-communal forces are in power under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina in Bangladesh, radical communal forces are active. Sheikh Hasina's government has suppressed them like militancy. They would have cheered here today in the face of the rise and seizure of power by the Taliban if the radical leaders who started the radicalization of Hefazat Islam had not been arrested a few days ago. Incited radical sectarianism. The great strength of Bangladesh is that the Muslims here are God-fearing and religious but not fanatical. And never accepted radical communal power.
