Islami Andolan Bangladesh Secretary General Principal Hafez Maulana Yunus Ahmed said that there is no elected government in the country. Therefore, a decision will have to be made after a meeting with political parties whether to give foreigners the responsibility of operating the New Mooring Terminal of Chittagong Port.
In a statement on Monday, Maulana Yunus Ahmed said, "The main task of this government is to complete reforms and organize elections; but the government is engaging in activities beyond its main goal that are creating instability in politics. It is creating distrust and suspicion among the public and the parties. The interim government must withdraw from such activities."
In a statement, the Secretary General of the Islamic Movement said, "There is no clear discussion from the government on why the responsibility of operating the New Mooring Container Terminal should be given to DP World. No decision regarding this port can be made without the opinion of the people. Since there is no elected government in the country, a decision on this issue must be made after meeting with the political parties."
Warning the government, Maulana Yunus Ahmed said, "Avoid controversy and focus on bringing those involved in the murders to justice quickly, accelerating fundamental reforms, and strengthening the economy to make the July coup a success. If the state fails in the fundamental work of reform, the blood of July will not forgive us."
