The price of bottled soybean oil at the retail level has been reduced by Tk 8 per liter to Tk 160. The price of bottled 5-liter oil has been reduced by Tk 35 to Tk 760. The price of loose soybean oil has been reduced by Tk 7 to Tk 136. Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh told reporters after a meeting with officials of oil producing companies at the Secretariat on Sunday (March 20). Currently, the price of bottled soybean oil is Tk 168 per liter, 5-liter bottled soybean oil is Tk 795 and loose soybean is being sold at Tk 143 per liter. This price will be effective at the mill gate from tomorrow. However, it may take another five-six days to be effective at the consumer level, said the Commerce Secretary. The Secretary said, "This price will remain in effect until the holy Eid-ul-Fitr. Everyone in our refinery has agreed on this. We will sit again in May, sit down, look at the international market and re-fix the price based on a month's average." He said, we have agreed to fix the price of soybean oil. We need some more information and calculations about palm oil. Palm oil comes from Indonesia and Malaysia. So it takes less time to arrive. So the increased price in the international market has reached the Bangladesh market. How to adjust it, the refinery association and the representatives who were there have taken time for this. The Commerce Secretary also said that the price of palm oil will be fixed at a meeting on March 22. Claiming that there is sufficient oil available in the market, the Commerce Secretary said, oil is not available, it was maybe 8-10 days ago. Enough oil has arrived. In the last three days, 75 thousand tons of oil arrived at the Chittagong port. As far as I know, there is no oil crisis now. The price has also come down. From now on, the producers will write the price of oil in the supply order (SO) along with the VAT invoice, Tapan Kanti Ghosh also said. He said, we will monitor the price of oil and we have increased the monitoring further with the month of Ramadan ahead. Due to the reduction in VAT on oil, we were able to reduce the price a lot today. The price was constantly increasing in the international market. Recently, it has decreased a little. It may take more time to come to its effect. Tapan Kanti said that there is enough soybean and palm oil in the market, 'There should be no shortage in supply until Eid.' Stating that the subsidy will increase a lot due to providing TBC products to one crore people at affordable prices, he said, 'This time we have tripled the amount of food products we provide in Ramadan compared to other years. We are also thinking about whether we will continue TCB's operations like this. We are trying our best and it will continue. TK Group Group Director Md. Mustafa Haider told reporters, we came to a price through overall discussions with everyone. On the occasion of Eid, everyone has paid the duty VAT at the previous rate. Our expenses have been covered. We have tried to reduce the price in line with the VAT that the government has reduced. As a result, I will ask the government to pay attention to this so that the additional VAT and tax that we have paid can be refunded to us somehow. Then we won't lose. Stating that there is enough oil in the country, he said, "I hope there will be no shortage until Eid."
