The leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Chhatra Dal (BJD) ran in all directions upon hearing the whistle of an ambulance bound for Dhaka Medical College. Their escape has sparked widespread laughter among eyewitnesses, students and the public present, and on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, on Sunday morning, when Chhatra Dal leaders and activists reached the BNCC office with a procession on the Dhaka University campus, a severe traffic jam was created on the campus. At that time, an ambulance tried to move towards Dhaka Medical College by blowing a whistle. Hearing the whistle, there was a commotion among the BNP leaders and activists, and the Chhatra Dal leaders and activists started running here and there in fear. Their procession was dispersed instantly.
At that time, despite the leaders in the front row shouting and calling them back, it was not possible to turn them back. After the procession dispersed, Chhatra Dal claimed in a press conference that Chhatra League attacked the procession and that 19 of their leaders and activists were injured in that attack.
When contacted on mobile phone, Bangladesh Chhatra League General Secretary Lekhak Bhattacharya said, "Bangladesh Chhatra League is not involved in this incident. Rather, they ran away after hearing the whistle of an ambulance during the procession."
