Desk News: After the 9/11 incident in America, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in the Parliament that the BNP government had created the RAB on the advice of America to suppress militancy and eliminate terrorism. He alleged that people of this country have given bad name against RAB.
On Wednesday (March 30th) in the Jatiya Sangsad session, in the question and answer session scheduled for the Prime Minister, in response to a supplementary question from Jatiya Party Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu, the Prime Minister said, 'There are some people in our country, they are a little intellectual. They form various organizations. And they collect money through this organization, they can collect money only if they speak against Bangladesh. It is the people of this country who have defamed our RAB. What about blaming others'?
He also said, 'RAB was created in America when 9/11 happened, after which they advised different countries to fight terrorism. And on that advice, when BNP was in power in Bangladesh, they created this RAB. However, by creating RAB, they used RAB arbitrarily, there is no doubt about it. After the Awami League government came to power, in fact, RAB has done such humanitarian work to suppress militancy, suppress terrorism or torture women or investigate any murder in this country. They did not violate human rights, they worked to preserve human rights. But there are some people in our country, it is sad. Their job is that when Bangladesh has an unusual government i.e. when someone who has taken illegal power is in power, they are very good. Because they are very important. But when a democratic process is going on, they feel that they are not good, so they always stay against the democratic government. They don't see anything as good as you do'.
Sheikh Hasina said, they are always spreading various kinds of misinformation against Bangladesh and they have made many complaints about RAB through various letters etc. They are the ones who have said more of these types of propaganda abroad. Those who are there have spread misinformation by repeatedly sending information to Congressmen and Senators, sending letters, sending them whenever an incident happens. Our embassy was always active. But when the matter was discussed, the embassy did not allow anyone to enter. It was 2/3 years ago. We have been telling them again and again and Bangladesh is the only country where whenever any member of RAB commits wrongdoing, he is immediately brought to justice.
The Chief Minister said, one of our ministers, his daughter's son-in-law was an army officer, he committed a crime, as the minister's son-in-law, but we did not forgive him. He was rightly brought to trial, punished. Awami League government does not condone any injustice, whoever it may be and we are doing it. When someone from a law enforcement agency commits wrongdoing, we immediately take action against him. So there is no question about it. Even after that some of our people made bad name against RAB. If the people of my country do the bad name, then there is nothing to say here. That's how this ban came about.
