The meeting of the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) began at 10 am today, Tuesday (September 7) at the NEC Conference Room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital.
It is learned that a total of eight projects will be taken up for approval in today's meeting.
Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has joined the NEC conference room through video conference from Ganabhaban. She is presiding over the meeting. The total cost of implementing the eight projects raised will be estimated at 7,589.7 million taka. After the meeting, Planning Minister MA Mannan and State Minister for Planning Dr. Shamsul Alam will hold a press conference to give details.
The projects that will be presented at ECNEC are:
1. Construction of residential buildings for sanitation workers in the municipality.
2. Construction of physical infrastructure of Hili, Burimari and Banglabandha LC stations.
3. Installation of pillars, bank protection, walkways and jetties and related infrastructure construction on the banks of Buriganga, Turag, Shitalakshya and Balu rivers (2nd phase) (1st revised).
4. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheater, Rangpur establishment project.
5. Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET).
6. Capacity building of Regional Pulse Research Center, Madaripur and project to increase production of pulse crops in Greater Barisal, Faridpur region.
7. Development of land reclaimed from the Jamuna River in Sirajganj district and protection of the proposed economic zone (1st revised).
8. Rehabilitation of Polder No. 15 in Satkhira district.
