In view of the increase in the price in the world market, the government has decided the new price of sugar in the country's market.
Today (Thursday) the Ministry of Commerce held a meeting with the mill owners at the secretariat. At the end of the meeting, open sugar was fixed at Tk 74 per kg and packet sugar at Tk 75 per kg.
The price of sugar was between Tk 60 to Tk 65 per kg in the last few months. However, at the beginning of last August, the price of sugar suddenly started to increase. Last week, the price of sugar in the retail market crossed 80 rupees.
Representatives of sugar marketing company City Group, Meghna Group, Deshbandhu Group and other companies were present in the meeting. The price of sugar was fixed in the meeting and it was announced that the new price will be effective from tomorrow (Friday).
